Investor awareness & your rights.
A few simple habits protect you far more than any "hot tip" ever could. Here's how to transact safely, what you're entitled to, and where to go if something goes wrong.
Do's & Don'ts
Do
- Deal only with SEBI-registered intermediaries and AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributors — verify the ARN on the AMFI website.
- Read the Scheme Information Document (SID), KIM and SAI, and understand the risk factors, before investing.
- Complete your KYC with valid documents and keep it updated (address, bank, contact, nominee).
- Make payments only in favour of the scheme (e.g. "ABC Mutual Fund A/c …") through banking channels — never in any individual's name.
- Insist on a valid acknowledgement / account statement for every transaction, and review your Consolidated Account Statement (CAS).
- Register your own mobile number and email so you get transaction alerts directly from the AMC/RTA.
- Ensure the EUIN is recorded on your form (it identifies the qualified person who handled the transaction).
- Invest based on your own goals and risk appetite, and stay invested for the long term.
Don't
- Don't invest based on rumours, tips, or promises of guaranteed, assured or unusually high returns — no such assurance is permitted in mutual funds.
- Don't hand over cash, or sign blank cheques or forms.
- Don't make payments in the name of any distributor or individual.
- Don't share your login credentials, passwords or OTPs with anyone — including our staff.
- Don't be lured by gifts, rebates or incentives offered to make you invest.
- Don't ignore the scheme documents and risk factors.
- Don't deal with unregistered entities or unverified "advisors".
- Don't chase past performance as a guarantee of future returns.
